Is Your Grinder Pump Alarming? Do This Now.
A grinder pump alarm is serious. The buzzer means your tank is full. It means the pump stopped moving waste. Do not ignore it. Stop using water completely. If you flush a toilet or run a sink, sewage will back up into your house.
- Silence the alarm. Press the button on the control panel. This stops the noise. It does not fix the pump.
- Stop all water use. Do not flush. Do not shower. Do not run the dishwasher.
- Check the float switches. Are you comfortable opening the lid? Sometimes trash jams a float. Clearing it might reset the system.
- Call us at (252) 503-1295. We carry new float switches. We carry control panels. We carry full replacement pumps on our trucks.
No Water from Your Well? Here's What's Happening.
- No water at all — submersible pump may have failed or lost prime
- Pump running but no pressure — bladder tank may be waterlogged or pressure switch failed
- Short-cycling (on/off rapidly) — tank bladder failure, overloading the motor; stop use to prevent burnout
- Sputtering or air in the lines — low well level or air leak in the drop pipe
- Brown or gritty water — sand intrusion, well screen failing or pump drawing bottom
What We Do When We Arrive
For grinder pump calls, we check the control panel first. We test the pump power draw. We check the float positions. We test the switches. Most alarms happen because a float switch or control board fails. We carry these parts on our truck. Did the whole pump fail? We pull it out and drop a new one in the tank. We also inspect the tank for cracks for free.
For well pump calls, we test the pressure switch first. We check the tank air charge. These are fast, simple fixes. Did the deep submersible pump fail? We work with local well drillers to pull the deep pipe and replace the pump. We also test your blue pressure tank bladder. If it holds water instead of air, we replace it on site.
